Why travel with Atlas
The good bits of travel, none of the coach tours
We started Atlas in a Bristol kitchen in 2009 after one too many holidays spent following a flag through a crowd. Seventeen years on, we still design every route by walking or riding it first.
Never more than 12 travellers and one local guide. Small enough for family-run guesthouses, mountain huts and the table by the window.
Guides who grew up there
Our guides are shepherds' sons, marine biologists and former hut wardens. They know which bakery opens first.
140 guides in 24 countriesCarbon-balanced trips
We measure every trip, cut what we can with rail and ferry legs, then fund peatland and forest restoration for the rest.
100% of trip emissions balancedGuaranteed to run
Once four people have booked, your departure is locked in. No last-minute cancellations for low numbers.

Eleni made the islands feel like hers to shareWe swam off a fishing boat near Amorgos, ate at her cousin's taverna in Naxos and never once queued for a ferry. Ten days felt like a month.
Hard days, softest bedsThe climb to Rifugio Lagazuoi nearly finished me, then Marco produced a strudel at the top. Perfectly paced for a group of mixed fitness.
Booked from a bothy with one bar of signalI reserved our Morocco trip while walking in Knoydart. It saved everything and confirmed the next morning. Youssef's tagine lessons were a bonus.
